Chewing Bone Reinforcement Turns Good For Your Dog | Dog Training Youtube Channel

Chewing Bone Reinforcement Turns Good For Your Dogdog training

Chewing bones can be a positive influence for dogs of all ages. However, it should be emphasized here that the term bone is not a leftover bone from roast chicken, barbecued ribs and such, but the bones from the knee cartilage of cattle or other animals, or it could be bone-reinforcement (artificial bone), both made of dried cow leather is shaped like a bone (bone Rawhide) or bones are made of nylon and starch.

Why not encouraged to give chicken bones or ribs for a dog? Therefore, the sharp fracture can actually injure the dogs digestive system and also weaken teeth. However, if you are using beef bones, Rawhide or other artificial bone that was designed specifically for dogs, the risk of this sort would not be experiencing, and even the dog will have a variety of advantages.

Indeed, the vast majority of animal care experts recommend to give bone derived from the original animal, not artificial. However, you need to realize that the original bones have drawbacks, one of which is that it can cause odor and invite flies, because the bones can become rotten.

So, what are the benefits that can be obtained from the habit of chewing on a dog bone?

Strength training gear: Chewing bone-reinforcing a positive influence on your dogs teeth. According to a number of leading veterinarians, most of the dental problems they deal with are caused because the dog is not accustomed to chewing hard objects, either a toy or a bone-reinforcement.

In fact, chewing on a bone-reinforcement or a hard toy may help scrape plaque, which can cause bad breath and a number of serious dental problems. By the time the dog chewing on a bone, dental plaque will be eroded. At the same time, the tartar that has accumulated can be controlled, so it will greatly help prevent periodontal disease and tooth yellowing. The bone-hard reinforcement, such as Rawhide bones compacted, plaque can erode even the most stubborn, keeping the outer surface of the tooth remains smooth, and makes it difficult for plaque to grow back.

Helps relieve boredom: Unlike humans, dogs will quickly get bored if not doing anything. Chewing bones will entertain your dog for hours, and make his mind active. Therefore, chewing on a bone-reinforcement is a good activity for dogs of all ages, especially older dogs tend to be inactive.

Satisfying the desire to chew: Dogs, especially puppies, have a strong innate urge to bite and chew. Of course, chewing on a bone-reinforcement is a much better alternative to satisfy the desire to chew, rather than leg dining table or your new party shoes.

In addition, for a new puppy teething, chewing on a bone or toy-reinforcement will help stimulate the growth of adult teeth. As well as human infants, the pressure on the teeth and gums when dogs chew on something hard will also help ease the discomfort of growing new teeth.

Choosing Bone-Reinforcement

After knowing the benefits of chewing bones for your dog, now is the time to know tips for choosing the right bone-reinforcement. There are several factors to consider before you settled on a type of bone-reinforcement would you give to your pet dog. These factors are:

Size: Some pets are very picky about the size of spine-reinforcement that you give them. Given bone-reinforcement is too big, they might not want to touch it at all, but they could chew bones smaller vigorously for hours.

In general, small dogs are more fond of small bones, but not necessarily a large dog-bone reinforcement rather large. Quite a lot of big dogs that are reported tend to ignore a large bone, so that the owner considers the dog does not like bones. In fact, it was wrong. Some dogs just do not like the bone-reinforcement that they were too big. Lets say you give the same bone-reinforcing, but in a smaller size. Surely he would soon be chewed vigorously.

Violence and Texture: In addition to size, the consistency of bones you give your dog is another factor to consider. Dogs who love to chew chew with aggressive bone size is in a relatively short time. This kind of dog, try to give the Rawhide bones compressed texture denser, harder and take longer to destroy. In addition, synthetic bone is also an excellent option for dogs who like to chew this linger.

Conversely, if your dog is not classified as a dog chew long endure, and just gnawed his bones reinforced with soft, small, easy Rawhide bones are softened more appropriate choice. This kind of dog, can also try the bone-shaped reinforcement chips, stick or twist. Bone-type reinforcement can fulfill his desire to chew, making it entertained, and with the same taste delicious with a bone-reinforcing the larger size.

Taste: Finally, the taste is also very important for some dogs. Some dogs love bones that tastes like peanut butter, while others prefer the flavor with the taste of the "original". Again, do not hesitate to try different flavors, to find out which are the most favored your dog.

Remember that almost all dogs like to chew. Often, the trick is to find the size, consistency and flavor desired by your pet dog. Feel free to experiment. If the dog you are beginning to look lost interest in bone-reinforcement you give, switch to the type of bone-reinforcing others. This will make your dog continues to chew, which we all know will bring great influence, not only for physical health, but also his mental health.

Can a dog on monthly heartworm preventative still get heartworms If so how likely is this to happendog training

Answers:
I work in a vets office. We have had 2 dogs this year come up positive for heartworm despite being on preventative. That does not include the dogs who are not being given any type of preventative.
It is possible, but extremely rare. The most common cause for this happening is either a late/missed dose or the dog goes off after you give him the preventative and throws it up. I dont know what type of prevention you use, but they all have websites as well as hotlines that you can call.
Most of them will guarantee their product and will pay for treatment if your dog does become heartworm positive. As long as you bought the product directly from a veterinarian. Talk to your vet about this guarantee if you have any questions.
Yes, but if your vet is worth anything, its not bloody likely.

Heartworm meds are actually a small amount of poison meant to kill the worms before they become adults and the dose is dependent upon your dogs weight. If your dog is under-dosed then the poison in his system isnt strong enough to kill the critters before they can reach maturity.

On rare occasion, your dog can get a strain of heartworms that is resistent to the formula given. Also, if you miss a dose and then start back up, all of the worms that grow inside his system will have some resistance to the regular formula that you give your dog.

can dogs shiver from the colddog training

my dog has started shaking and shivering for no apparent reason any ideas?
Answers:
My mongrel shakes alot. mostly because he is cold. but also he had problems with his muscels when he was a puppy and now the quiver if he sits still for two long at a time.

but yes a dog can shiver in the cold and sometimes for no apparent reason, also check your house to see if there is anything that could be making him nervouse. if it persists consult your vet.
it could be nervousness or she could be cold.
yes they can shiver from cold and shiver because theyre nervous
Take im to the vet hun. It could be a fear of something or anything. Get im checked out.
our dog shakes all the time when he is cold - we just wrap him in a blanket and hes fine
Yes.
Why not?
could be cold but is it possible that your dog is worrying about something? - my dog used to shiver for about a month after fireworks night because he was scared!!
If you are in cold weather right now, get a heating pad and place it unter a blanket where ever he sleeps or lays the warm blanket will help he a lot. My border collie did that a lot until she got use to the weather change and she still likes the pad under her blankets.
If she is a short haired dog then it is possible that it is the cold; the best solution for that would be a dog coat. I have a rat terrior and she literally freezes without the thing. Other than that your dog could have been scared by something or someone. It really depends on how she acts around you.
If it is warm when it starts shaking and shivering I would take the dog to a vet and find out if something is going on.
yep my labrador is a right wimp he shivers when i make him go out in the garden to do his buisiness, but my other 2 dogs dont seem to be as bothered by the cold when i let them all out.

i dont leave them out for long either just till there done lol
If it happened all of a sudden I say vet. If you were giving him a bath or he got into some water outside I say hes just cold. They do shiver from cold and from nerves. In some cases though it could be something else which is why I would say vet.
Sure, all dogs can shiver, but they are just as likelly to shiver from excitement as they are from the cold. Shivering increases body temp, and panting decreeses body temp.
Yes they sure can. My oldest girl seems to get cold easier as she ages. I get her to lie in front of the fire for a while, and she soon warms up and is a happy bunny again.
he may need a jab
Absolutely! Dogs get cold just like people, especially smaller dogs! If that is the case, get him/her a sweater. Some people think that putting a sweater on dogs is "cruel" or whatever they want to call it, but it really works. Your dog will love you for it.
My dog shivers when hes cold but he also shivers if hes nervous.
Could be from the cold weather if it is outside when this occurs. Could be a multitude of things if it doesnt. IMO, he should see a vet and get a proper diagnosis. If it is from being out in the cold, the get him a sweater or coat. They make them for dogs.
Dogs shiver from being cold %26 from being scared.
yeah they do but if its not obviously cold it will mean he or she is nervous.

Could additives in hot dogs affect incidence of colon cancer | Dog Training Yarraville

Could additives in hot dogs affect incidence of colon cancerdog training

ScienceDaily (Oct. 25, 2011) — The addition of ascorbate (vitamin C) or its close relative, erythorbate, and the reduced amount of nitrite added in hot dogs, mandated in 1978, have been accompanied by a steep drop in the death rate from colon cancer, according to data presented at the 10th AACR International Conference on Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research, held Oct. 22-25, 2011.

However, the incidence rate for colon cancer has apparently not changed much since 1978, according to 2011 data from the SEER Cancer Statistics Review from the National Cancer Institute.

"It was proposed that N-nitroso compounds in hot dogs and other processed meats can cause colon cancer," said Sidney S. Mirvish, Ph.D., professor emeritus at the Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. "We found that the level of total apparent N-nitroso compounds in hot dog links prepared in our laboratory fell as increasing levels of sodium erythorbate were included in the hot dog links."

Mirvish and colleagues discussed the view that colon cancer was induced by components of the apparent nonvolatile N-nitroso compounds that occur in processed (nitrite-preserved) meat. Hence, Mirvish and colleagues investigated the effect of varying the erythorbate level on the N-nitroso compound content of hot dogs.

They found that the current level of erythorbate (500 milligrams per kilogram) added to hot dogs reduces the N-nitroso compounds to 2 nanomoles per gram compared with 180 nanomoles per gram when erythorbate was not used.

"When erythorbate was not added, 80 percent of the apparent N-nitroso compounds were found to be due to nitrosothiols, which are probably harmless, still leaving 40 nanomoles per gram that were attributed to possibly carcinogenic N-nitroso compounds," Mirvish said.

If the level of N-nitroso compounds was an important cause of colon cancer, "the drop in N-nitroso compound content caused by the mandated changes in processed meat should have been accompanied by a drop in the incidence of colon cancer," Mirvish said.

In fact, since the mandated changes were introduced 33 years ago, the death rate for colon cancer has dropped sharply. "This may have been due mostly to earlier detection and better treatment of this disease," Mirvish said.

Mirvish concluded that the role of hot dog-derived N-nitroso compounds in the causation of colon cancer remains unclear.

Buying a Top Premium Dog Food Does It Worth the Money | Dog Training In The Police

Buying a Top Premium Dog Food Does It Worth the Moneydog training

There is a lot of controversy with dog owners over which dog food is better. Some people have no idea what makes a good dog food. They buy the most expensive brand because they assume it must be a top quality dog food. Others feel that dog food is dog food and if their dog seems to be healthy then they see no reason to spend the extra money on a premium brand.

Before we look at dog food costs, lets begin with what makes a good dog food. A top quality dog food depends on the quality of ingredients and the nutritional power of the food. It should offer a balanced diet and contain superior sources of protein as one of the first two ingredients. This can include whole fresh meats or single-source meat meal like chicken meal (rather than poultry meal). A top dog food would also contain whole, unprocessed grains plus vegetables and even fruits. It would have few fillers such as corn, soy, brewers rice and wheat bran. It would use natural preservatives instead of chemicals like propylene glycol and BHT or BHT.

Supermarket Dog Foods vs. Premium Brands: Which is a Better Value for the Money?

Some people experience sticker shock when they compare the price of a premium dog food with an economy brand. Many dog foods found in supermarkets are so-called economy brands, which, surprisingly, end up costing more to feed your dog than top rated premium dog foods. Why? Because "economy" dog foods tend to be lower in nutrients than premium foods and you have to feed your dog more to get the same nutritional punch of a more expensive premium brand. For example, the recommended feeding instructions for one supermarket brand say to feed approximately 6 cups a day for a 35-50 lb dog. The label on an ultra-premium dog food recommends about 1 ¾ to 2 cups per day. Thats around three times as much of the standard dog food vs. the premium food. So now which costs less? And just think about the extra poop you will have to scoop if youre feeding your dog six cups a day! Some lower end dog food manufacturers have even reduced the recommended feeding amount to make their food look more economical.

Lower end dog foods usually contain corn meal as one of the main ingredients (an acceptable protein source, but may cause allergies in some dogs), plus chicken or animal byproducts or rendered meat/poultry. Byproducts are ground, rendered, pieces of the carcasses of slaughtered animals or poultry and can include heads, feet, necks, and viscera. These are less nutritious but are often used in lower-quality dog foods because they are much cheaper than whole turkey, chicken, or meat. Rendered is often referred to as "byproducts meal" and it means the cooked and processed remains of the leftovers in meat and poultry processing. Yuck!

What Should You Look for in a Dog Food?

Learn how to read the label. Better dog foods are made from whole product, such as chicken, turkey, and lamb. Also check the label to see if the protein source is free of hormones, antibiotics, and pesticides. Chicken fat is a very good source of Nicoline acid, which helps makes dogs coats healthy and shiny. Also check the fiber content. Three to four percent fiber is recommended for solid stools. Avoid dog foods that have rendered meats, poultry or fats, animal byproducts, added growth hormones, brain or spinal tissue, artificial colors, artificial flavors, preservatives, and for dogs that may have allergies, avoid corn, soy, wheat, and eggs.

So what About the Cost?

There are many excellent dog foods on the market, and a variety of prices. Buying a top quality dog food doesnt necessarily mean you will be paying the most; understanding the ingredients list and getting value for your money is what counts.

My dog has a runny nose and is sneezing, does this mean he has a cold?
Answers:
Definitely dogs are exposed to the same diseases we are, and when you see a dog like this, imagine how he feels, just the same as when we have a bad cold, take care of him..??
Has your dog been in a kennel lately? He may have kennel cough.
Or he may have allergies, dog do get colds.
Ya he probably does have a little cold, keep an eye on him if it gets worse take him to the vet.
yes
kennel cough is just a cough in technical terms. and if it was in a kennel its kennel cough !! oh god . anyhoo yes your dog has a cold . get childrens cough surop it wont hurt to give your dog as directed.
Yes. I say you take it to the vet and get some medicine.
yes it dose mean that he has a cold and you should properly take him to the vet
Yes dogs get colds just like a human and the best thing to do for him is to begin treating him just like you would a child.Give your pet some robertussin about 1/3 of a cc ,or 3 little marks on a 3cc syringe every 4 to 6 hours, then place your pet in a small room and put a baby bottle warmer in with him/her with a medicated vapor steam solution, this will keep it from getting any resperatory conjestion. If you dont have a bottle warmer, just place water in a poperie pot and put candle under it to keep the water warm, place the medicaticated solution in the little pot so the pet can breath the steam.Do this until your pet gets better.Hope this helps
This dont necessarily mean the dogs has a cold it could be allergies. Or something just got in their nose. If a dog has a cold most of the time the stuff coming out of there nose will be thick and gooey, and they will get eye boogers. And if there nose is dry and cracked it usually mean they dont feel good. A healthy dog has a cold wet nose.
healthy dogs normally have wet noses and occasional sneezing is normal.if both these symptoms get worse it could have a cold.dogs also get coughs.short nosed dogs(boxers) are generally more susceptable to colds.

Consistency for Dog obedience training | Dog Training Tips And Tricks

Consistency for Dog obedience trainingdog training

Training your dog to obey you requires self-discipline and determination.

If you are not consistent, your dog will finish the training not listening to you! In nature, for any packs of dogs, there is only one alpha dog and usually is the leader of the pack. By helping your dog to follow and respect you it is necessary to train its behavior according to the pack hierarchy, the dog training process can go faster. The reward for the affection and obedience from your dog can be very fulfilling for a dog owner.

A few simple things to remember in dog obedience training:

1. Be consistent. It will make your dog training task easier and more effective
2. Correct your dog immediately
3. Use physical touch to help your dog understand what is being asked
4. Reward the desired behavior, every time
5. Get your family involved
6. Set aside a regular training time and make it fun

http://www.globalk9group.com/images/jogger4revopt.jpg

The most critical and difficult task in dog training is being consistent. Always ask for and expect the desired behavior from your dog. If your dog isnt given clear commands every time he misbehaves, it will seem to him that the behavior is acceptable, at least some of the time. Training your dog to obey requires self-discipline and determination.

If you are not consistent, your dog will end up training you! This might sound ridiculous but consider this: dogs are genetically conditioned to respond to a hierarchy. In the wild, in any pack of dogs, there is only one alpha dog. In your home, your family is your dogs pack. You dont want your dog to consider himself the dominant pack member. If he does he will never obey you or behave in a predictable manner.

As an example, lets say that Stanley has a dog named Poochy. Poochy likes to sleep on the couch. Sometimes, Stanley tolerates it and at other times he scolds Poochy and moves him to his dog bed. The result of this effort? Poochy has no idea what is expected of him. The rest of the family probably isnt sure either, and will not see Poochy on the couch as something that requires their immediate action.

Stanley explains to his family what Poochy must learn (no lying on the couch). Every family member promises to react in the same way; they will tell Poochy "no" as soon as they see him on the couch, they will move him to his dog bed and they will reward him with affection when this action is completed. Poochy will not only get the message that the couch is bad, but will also understand that the dog bed is good.

Did you notice that they reacted as soon as they saw Poochy indulging in the undesirable behavior? Sometimes it might seem easier to ignore the behavior if youre in the middle of something and go back to correct the dog later. Your dog will know that you didnt follow up right away. With a short attention span (after all, who knows if time runs fast or slow for a dog?) dealing with it later is as bad as not dealing with it at all.

They also physically led Poochy to his dog bed. By helping your dog perform the required behavior, the dog training process can go faster. If you are trying to get him to sit and he isnt cooperating you can help him along by gently pushing down his behind.

The reward of affection followed every time Poochy returned to his dog bed. Be consistent in positive reinforcement. If your dog does something desirable, always reward it. Use affection, a reassuring voice and a doggie treat (if you have one handy). By using all three rewards together, your dog learns that any of the three can be a reward.

Lets say Poochy slumped down on a priceless rug instead of going all the way to his dog bed. What should Stanley and his family do? They dont want Poochy on the rug either, but at least hes off the couch. Its this simple; if Poochy doesnt complete the desired action, he doesnt get the reward. Eventually, he will learn to associate the reward with the action.

A partial reward for trying will only confuse the dog and lengthen the time required to learn the desired behavior.
Regular training sessions are another way to be consistent. Set aside at least 20-30 minutes each day for dog training and make sure to follow through on it. This will be beneficial for both you and your dog.

Try to make the training fun and you will both be looking forward to your daily training sessions. Dont overdo it though. Like small children, dogs have a short attention span and going for too long will just tire him out.

By being completely consistent in your dog training efforts it is possible to for your dog to change his behavior in a few days instead of months. Consistency is the sign of a leader. By behaving consistently, your dog will be able to look up at you with respect and feel secure in knowing what you expect of him.

Ive just explained how being clear and consistent in your dog obedience training makes it easier for you to get results from your training efforts. In short: enlist your familys participation, physically guide your dog, reward him with affection for completed actions, train regularly, act immediately, and be consistent.

They do this by simply barking at them so they really don’t try to steal via us or do just about anything stupid. In some properties, this alone is just about adequate and you will therefore not require any other form of safety as long as you keep this family pet well fed and healthy it will conduct its duties towards the fullest.

The first step may be the easy step and is good for most reasonable others who live nearby. (I must note here my neighbors are generally crazy, and I had to do step 4!) Merely print up the paper that says "Your puppies barking goes on for hours, and I would appreciate it if you would buy your canine a bark collar or bring it in". Simply print it, produce a signature "concerned neighbor" along with tape it for their door at night.

Could A Heated Dog Bed Help | Dog Training Yuba City

Could A Heated Dog Bed Helpdog training

You might think the title of this post, could a heated dog bed help, is kind of crazy. But if youve tried a lot of different ways to stop your dog from barking and it still hasnt worked, you have to ask yourself why is he still barking.

There has to be some reason for his barking. Dogs dont bark for no reason after all. Think about some of the possible reasons. Maybe hes frustrated or wants some attention. Maybe something has got his attention and hes trying to assert himself. Maybe hes hungry or lonely, or bored.

Barking for sure is a way that a dog uses to communicate. Its like a baby crying. You just need to figure why that baby is crying, fix the problem and then in a short time, hopefully the baby stops crying.

So my theory is that we have to discover the reason for his barking and then fix the problem. Its really a process of elimination. Try one thing and see if it helps.

I just think that sometimes we dont see physical comfort as a reason for barking. Its hard to tell if a dog is uncomfortable because they often just lay there and maybe bark.

My dog loved being outside but when he was inside he was always curled up next to the heat vent on what I thought was a nice cushy pillow. Hed let out the occasional whine or sharp bark. I just thought he wanted a little attention so Id go and give him a good scratch by his ears. He loved that, but the time came when his pillow need replacing.

Since it was in the dead of winter and really cold, I checked out a few articles about dog beds and read about a heated dog bed. I thought Id get one and give it a try. Well, I have to tell you, my dog is now the picture of contentment. (No more of those little barks inside the house anymore either.)

Check out http://www.heateddogbedreview.com/ for information on a heated dog bed as well as information about a lot of other types of dog beds.
